Vijay Singh Riyait BEng (Hons), MEng, CEng, MIET, MCP, MCTS

My name is Vijay Singh Riyait and I live and work in Leicester. I was born and brought up in Leicester and I am a Punjabi speaking Sikh. My family regularly attend the Ramgharia Board Gurdwara in Leicester which my father helped to set up when he first came to Leicester back in the 60s from Tanzania. My family are originally from the Punjab in Northern India.

I am married and have two kids who are growing rapidly in front of my eyes!

I am a member of the Labour Party in the Leicester West Constituency. I was formerly in the Young Fabians and ran for the National Executive but just missed out on the main roles. I was Chair of the North East Coalition for Asylum Rights which I helped to set up and build a broad range of coalition partners.

I am a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Microsoft Certified Professional and Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist.

I was also formerly Governor of Wyggeston & Queen Elizabeth I College in Leicester which I attended as a student.

Lastly, and not least I am a supporter of Leicester City Football Club for my sins!!
